This is the ocean liner which brought Theodoros Asvestas to the new world. The ship was built by Cammell Laird & Company, Birkenhead, England in 1915. Its statistics are 9,272 gross tons; 470 (bp) feet long; 58 feet wide. Steam quadruple expansion engines, twin screw. Service speed 17 knots. 2,310 passengers (60 first class, 450 second class, 1,800 third class).
Built for National Greek Line, in 1915 and named Vasilefs Constantinos. Piraeus-New York service. Renamed Megali Hellas in 1919. Also Piraeus-New York service. Transferred to Byron Steamship Company, British flag, in 1923 and renamed Byron. Mediterranean-New York service. Returned in 1928. Greek flag service. Reverted to Greek flag 1928. Laid up 1935-37. Scrapped in Italy in 1937.
