Theodore Parish
The original home of the Parish's was at Metelyne Greece. While still in his teens Theodoros Vasilo Asvestas (Theodore Parish) migrated to the New World.
It was rumored within the family that this migration to America was more of a necessity then otherwise. Theodore it is said had to leave his homeland of Greece rather abruptly and it was also rumored that he did not take the time to purchase a ticket on the ship but rather become a stowaway. These rumors remain unfounded since we have a copy of his registration form and the ships passenger log to prove otherwise.
Upon his arrival in New York Theodore found that there was an abundance of prejudice against foreign born individuals and thus quickly changed his name to "Parish" which happened to be that of a friend he had meet upon his arrival.
From New York Theodore made his way southward to southern New Jersey which was to become his lifelong home.
